AJFF press kit

the film festival wanted to give potential sponsors a preview of what they'd be a part of if they signed on for a sponsorship, so we used the familiar look of movie previews for the folder, and tried to organize the information & stats on the inside as more of an infographic than just plain copy.

Atlanta Jewish Film Festival

For the past 4 years, we have created parody posters to advertise the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival. While these aren't the actual films that play at the festival, they've done a good job of telling the public what the festival was about. Great films with a Jewish twist. Here are a few of my favorites. Click to enlarge.

piano joe

one of my sister's besties is a fantastic jazz musician. seriously, check out his tunes at www.joealtermanmusic.com. hes such a nice guy and always entertains me when they come to visit, and i thought a logo for him would be a fun project. i saw a picture of him playing and noticed how his leg would make a saul bass-ish L, and the rest just came naturally. the piano keys below were another branding element i thought he could use in conjunction with the logo.

square feet studiots

an architecture firm known for its attention to detail down to the square foot, needed increased name recognition; a collateral system that measures 12" x 12" seemed the perfect fit.

holiday cards, take 1.

every quarter i assign my students (at the circus) the same final project: create a new product or service that solves a problem in your life. well, a big problem in my life is that since half of my family is jewish and half is christian, i have to make/get 2 different holiday cards. but not this year.... introducing the holiday card that works for both! just check the box for the appropriate holiday for each receiver and you're good to go.

i've been trying to push the idea of non-digital interactivity to my students and i think these do a good job of getting that across. engage your audience, make them experience design.

i'm thinking about pre-coloring in ones for the old folks, and including colored pencils for the families with kids. the original concept was to just send them out with an X in the box by the appropriate holiday.

thoughts?

oh and a special thanks to Alee&Press for helping me print this weekend. my first letterpress project!

oh, and stay tuned for a slightly different version of this card being printed on wednesday!

also stay tuned for better photos of these cards!

my personal site, take 74

for the past few years i've been promising myself a new website, but i keep changing my mind on what i want it to be. branding yourself is hard! i am my own worst client! minimalist, maximalist, let the work speak for itself or let the site be its own piece? i can never decide. but i was feeling girlie this weekend and looking at old barbie dolls and vintage pics of my grandma and this is just another direction that i will probably abandon. or maybe not.
